Artists who could never tour abroad now find their biggest audiences there. The money arrives in fractions of a cent.

Global industry figures show streaming as the dominant source of recorded-music revenue for the tenth year running, with the fastest growth in markets that skipped the CD entirely. (‘Global Music Report’, 2025)

For Nepali artists the platform audience is heavily diaspora: listeners in the Gulf, Australia and the United States who would never see a show at home.

Making it pay

Per-stream rates are small, and most of them are paid through distributors. Artists who do well treat streaming as marketing for shows, merchandise and brand work rather than as income.
